Are you a fan of any bands or singers that come from other countries? Why do you enjoy listening to them? Do they sing in a foreign language or do they sing in English? What are your thoughts on the matter?
I personally enjoy listening to Japanese Rock, especially Gackt who's a soloist, D, Moi dix Mois and Malice Mizer, the last 3 are or in Malice Mizers case were bands.
For all of them the songs are predominantly sung in Japanese and I enjoy listening to them partially because of that. Naturally we rely on lyrics to tell us the story and sometimes on a song I really enjoy I'll hunt the lyrics up with an english translation to be able to understand them. What's nice about listening to a song in a language you can't understand is the fact you listen more to the harmonies that are present and the voice and you can hear more emotion which I enjoy. I also enjoy listening to the music itself, often Malice Mizer and sometimes Gackt throw in peices of ambient and calm music - for example Lust for Blood opens with calm ambient chords, Gekka no Yasoukyoku keeps up a rather classical feel to it all the way through, which makes a nice change.
The other thing I like is that if the group sing the voices always harmonize, unless they're doing a screamo style but even then there's still matching together, they're not disjointed and everywhere.

Hmm what about Nightwish during the Tarja era - they were pretty kick ass as a band. And I can't forget The Rasmus they're a band I like.

Nightwish still good if you ask me. ABBA of course, in honour of Mamma Mia!

Oh yes how can we forget ABBA - I can play some of their songs on the flute you know!
Edit: Typo, I'm pretty sure play only has one 'p'

There is only one Australian band I listen to, that band is Angelspit, so really, everything else I listen to comes from another country...
However, out of non-english stuff, there's Infected Mushroom, they're from Israel. The rest is pretty much Japan. The highlight of which is See-Saw. Though, Baal was at the last Angelspit performance, and they were alright. Sadly, I can't find any of their music...
